SALSA Y SALUD
Launched in September 2011, Salsa y Salud is perhaps Texas biggest salsa and health initiative. The program was created as a response to the high incidence of obesity in Houston as a vehicle to educate on how a fun activity as salsa, could be used as a way of physical activity.
This annual live music and dance event has reached audiences of over 5,000 attendees, who attracted by their love of live music and Latin culture also receive important messages of health and well-being.
"...thank you for supporting the Mayor's New Year, New You Challenge...our community can work together to improve the quality of life of all Houstonians."
Bill White, Mayor of Houston, 2009
